We are delighted to share some exciting news with the IDIGH community. Dr. Marina Klein, one of our very own IDIGH researchers, will be one of the main speakers at this year’s Research Day on April 28. Her presentation will be a highlight of a day dedicated to showcasing the breadth and depth of research happening right here within our program.
Dr. Klein’s research program has gained significant momentum over the last few years and is driving innovation from within the IDIGH community. Her selection as a main speaker is a celebration of the excellence that our own members bring to some of the most important questions in infectious disease research today.
About Dr. Marina Klein
Dr. Klein is a Senior Scientist in the IDIGH Program at the RI-MUHC and a Professor in the Department of Medicine, the Division of Infectious Diseases at McGill University. She also serves as Research Director of the Chronic Viral Illnesses Service and, most recently, she was named National Director of the Pan-Canadian HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials Network (CTN+), supported by a five-year, $25-million CIHR investment — further affirming her leadership at the national level. With expertise spanning medicine, epidemiology, clinical trials, and biostatistics, she is internationally recognized for her work on HIV and Hepatitis C (HCV).
As Canada Research Chair in Clinical and Epidemiologic Studies of Chronic Viral Infections in Vulnerable Populations, her work focuses on documenting the real-world impact of new HCV therapies, designing community-tailored approaches to care, building research capacity with Indigenous communities, and translating evidence into meaningful policy change. Her initiative Montréal Sans HepC aims to make Montréal the first city in North America to eliminate hepatitis C — a testament to the ambition and community-centered spirit that defines her approach to science.
This Research Day is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to come together, celebrate the science being done within our own community, and be inspired by the work of our colleagues. We look forward to seeing everyone on April 28!
