We are pleased to announce that Dr. Emilia Falcone will be joining us as a guest speaker at this year’s Research Day on April 28.
Dr. Falcone’s research sits at the intersection of immunology, microbiology, and clinical medicine, with a focus on understanding how the intestinal microbiome shapes immune responses in patients with primary immune deficiencies (PIDs) — a group of rare, chronic conditions caused by inherited defects in the immune system. Her team works to identify the mechanisms driving gastrointestinal inflammation in this context, with the aim of developing diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Her work has also extended to post-infectious conditions, including Long COVID, where she has investigated the role of gut permeability and immune dysregulation in persistent symptoms.
About Dr. Emilia Liana Falcone
Dr. Falcone is Director of the Microbiome and Mucosal Defence Research Unit and Associate Research Professor at the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM), where she also practices as a physician at the Primary Immunodeficiency Clinic. She holds an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Université de Montréal, is an Adjunct Investigator at the NIAID/NIH, and holds the Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in the Role of the Microbiome in Inborn Errors of Immunity and Post-infectious Conditions.
We look forward to seeing everyone on April 28 for what promises to be an inspiring day of scientific exchange!
